The problem was that after the object is activated, changed and saved the modified state was not set to "false". It has to be done explicitly by the embedded object in case the model is attached to the target storage after the saving. Create a Calc Document and insert a Chart 2. Leave the Chart's inplace mode => The chart is saved temporarily (that's perfectly Ok) 3. Reactivate the Chart (do not modify anything) 4. Leave the Chart => The chart is saved again. Why? Also (I suppose this is connected to this issue): When you have a replacement image, activate the chart, the chart renders something wrong due to a bug or corrupt file (or maybe in the future: the chart was rendered with a plug-in that is not installed), leave the inplace mode again. => The replacement image is replaced by the wrong output although nothing changed (well, apart from the view, but this is in most cases an unwanted change).
