If it also works under windows then indeed it seems far better than introducing a workaround status indicator - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Normally session documents must be loaded in the same way then the office UI it does. So it should show a progress (btw: using a dummy progress will produce a regression ... the progress will show the document hardly during loading ... which the dummy progress wont do!). The new approach: removing the "toFront()" call inside the normal progress implementation. The idea behind: from now window handling is completely done by the underlying window manager. Its a question of "system integration" now. I've tested it (at least on windows and linux gnome) and it worked for me. Can you please confirm this solution ? You should test the following use cases: a) your session restore as mentioned above b) normal loading of documents using e.g. quickstart menu, file explorer, office dialogs c) You should test loading documents by using wizards also (e.g. database, impress). I will apply it ... but slightly different. a) The new class PseudoIndicator will be placed outside the recovery source. So it can be used for other purposes also. b) The decision if and how this special indicator has to be used will be done inside method impl_doSessionRestore(). There its more clear why this code exists and further it does not cost some performance in all other use cases of method impl_loadDocs() .-) c) At least I will see if its possible to remove the call toFront() inside our StatusIndicator implementation generally. It can be an unexpected behavior in other uses cases of the status indicator also. Normally the window manager should decide if a new visible window will be placed in front of the desktop or not. BTW: ... your question regarding the right developer ... Even inside QA you cant be sure to adress the right member. Our QA works project related too. So it doesnt matter if you send a task to our QA or directly to the development .-) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If you... a) position openoffice.org under gtk on e.g. workspace 4 b) load a document c) move to workspace 1, leaving OOo on workspace 4 d) save your session (gnome-session-save) e) logout and login f) OOo appears to get restored to workspace 1, not workspace 4 Here's what happens... Nearly everything occurs correctly a) we see the session save event and save our "recovery information" for the session, i.e. what document to reload on restore in our Recovery.xcu b) metacity sees we are on workspace 4 and saves this information correctly in the most recent .ms file in ~/.metacity/sessions c) the session is stored correctly in ~/.gnome2/session d) we are exec on login and heres the thing d.1) metacity correctly puts us on workspace 4 d.2) our statusbar indicator implementation (!) calls ToTop which transports the OOo window from workspace 4 back to the current workspace 1 :-(, undoing all our hard work to get it there in the first place. Attached is a workaround for this behaviour to effectively disable the statusbar when we are restoring a session, which will leave our windows where the window manager placed them during session restore. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
