IE became dysfunctional after installing Open Office 3.0. After wrestling with the problem for well over an hour, I discovered that the SSVHelper class in the file, ssv.dll was causing the problem. The work-around to fix the problem is to disable the add-on SSVHelper class. Note: Sun Microsystems is listed as the owner of this software. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It is Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002 with service pack 2. Someone said that he thinks that this is a Vista problem. But, as you can see, it isn't true because I was able to work-around the difficulty by disabling the SSVHelper class in the Internet Explorer Browser and also because I have Windows XP, not Vista. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So it is no office issue. From other side if the registration of the class is problematic the installation could try workaround the problem. MAV-IS: Could you please take a look. If you are not the one who control java installation, please send it to responsible developer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In installation sets OOo with JRE we do not influence the installation of the JRE. IS - MH: There seems to be a problem with Vista and JRE.
