OOo utilises alot of core components and is a tightly integrated office suite. IMHO the benefits of this far outweigh the downsides which are as you mention. On the other side of the fence, when auto-recover happens, all documents (regardless of what components they are in) are recovered, not just the one that caused the crash. I will close this issue however I strongly urge the original issue creator to create new issues with copies of documents that cause any crashes that he has or spreadsheets that are taking too long to calculate. The best status I can find it that of 'invalid' which doesn't really represent why this issue is being closed, but it was the closest available. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77644 Issue #|77644 Summary|Writer gives no response when Calc calculates Component|framework Version|OOo 2.2 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|tm Reported by|tommyads --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon May 21 10:41:53 + 2007 --- Suggestion: the different instances of OOO should be separate in a way, that problems of one app (writer, calc, base, ...) SHOULD NOT AFFECT the others. E.G. when sometimes I work with my big OO-spreadsheet and it needs some time to calculate (1-2 Minutes), during this time I can not use Writer, which is blocked; only when Calc has finished its calculations, then Writer responds again. Also, when it occurs, that one of the ooo-apps really hangs and the only way to continue working seems to be closing it before with task-manager, then all ooo-apps are closed. This is not very fine. Still I do like OOO. Thanks! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
