I echoed what you did and found the same issue you did. After I quit OOo with X11 still open, I couldn't restart OOo. After I quit X11, OOo restarted just fine and very quickly. OOo now opens so quickly, I can quit X11 every time I quit OOo and not lose any time ... as long as OOo opens (which it is now doing).
