Every time a save is triggered, either by pressing CTRL+S or by autosave timer, the app freezes while the save progress is being displayed in the status bar. Same also happens during PDF export. Actions (mouse-scrolling, typing, etc) are queued while the app is frozen, and executed once save is complete. This is particularly annoying on large docs (10M) where saving can take more than 10sec. In my OOo apps like Writer, Calc, etc. I have set automatic saves to 2 min. But everytime the app saves my work, I noticed that it was holding up my work for a few seconds at least, regardless of the type or size of the document. Often what happens is that while the 'save' is going on, the applications hangs and stops responding, therefore any words I type is not registered in the document. The main reason is that the auto-save runs on the foregound, and during its running, blacks out the app itself. A feature could be to allow BACKGROUND auto-saves so that the user may continue his/her work uninterrupted, while the app saves the periodic changes in the background. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
