I tried the path trick but never tried moving the libxml2 out of the windows
folder.

Why would the PATH trick not work? And why doesn't OOo look for it's own DLL
before windows'?

The libxml2 mine picks up: c:\windows\system32\LIBXML2.DLL
Has the following xmlXPATH entries:
xmlXPathInit
xmlXPathIsInf
xmlXPathIsNaN
xmlXPathNAN
xmlXPathNINF
xmlXPathPINF
 *not* the desired xmlXPathFreeObject :-(

The libxml2.dll in c:\program files\openoffice.org\ure\bin\LIBXML2.DLL however,
has the required entry point!

So it's pretty clear what's going on...

Moving the windows one out of the way temporarily (setting the open office path
first in %PATH% didn't seem to work, it's been a long time since I messed with
windows stuff) makes it all work nicely.

Any way to make this workaround more permanent without having to rename the
windows/system32/libxml2.dll ?

The same error happens also on a laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 SP1 (dutch
version). OOo 2.4.1 on the same laptop is not giving this error and works fine.

soffice.bin - Entry Point Not Found
---
The procedure entry point xmlXPathFreeObject could not be located in the dynamic
link library libxml2.dll.
---
OK
---

The error occurs when trying to open any of the OpenOffice applications. If I
hit okay, I get a "open office has stopped working ..." window. This has
occured in both beta 1, beta 2, and the latest dev version. 2.4 works fine.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1 and all latest MS updates
installed on a Core 2 Quad with 8GB RAM. I have the latest JRE installed.

The program works fine on my XP 32bit laptop.
