By looking at the memory usage and a strace - it looks like OO.Org tries to allocate over 2gb of memory. Details, strace output, memory usage output and a testfile can all be found at: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42015 This bug is also present in OO.Org 3 beta. Though - this bug is NOT in OpenOffice 1.1.5!
