The reason is that you need quite a bunch of i386 compatibility libs installed to get it running. Although this is not an OOo Issue you can try to install following libs: libXext.i386 libstdc++.i386 compat-libstdc++-33.i386 libSM.i386 freetype.i386 freetype1.i386 (?) libzip.i386 gnome-vfs2.i386 libXtst.i386 libXi.i386 Note that these packages will install a lot of additional stuff, you need all the dependencies. Additionally you should add following line to your /etc/yum.conf: exclude=openoffice.org* ooobasis3.0* ooobasis3.1* to avoid the program to be updated/overwritten by the fedora repositories when updating your system. Note that this is not supported by OpenOffice.org at all, so please do not file any issues reagarding this configuration. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Once the installation was complete I used it with no problems, but when I started my computer the next day I found the it would not start. I check the installation and found that instead of installing the program in the usual directory of Fedora, it installed in the /opt directory, and thought nothing of it, since Adobe Reader and a few other program will install in this area and work fine. Is it maybe because of structure of the Fedora 10 O.S. that it can not find all the files necessary to start OpenOffice? Any help would be appreciated.
