Confirmed, the vanilla 32Bit Office does not run on Fedora 10 x86_64.
The reason is that you need quite a bunch of i386 compatibility libs installed
to get it running.

Although this is not an OOo Issue you can try to install following libs:

libXext.i386
libstdc++.i386
compat-libstdc++-33.i386
libSM.i386
freetype.i386
freetype1.i386 (?)
libzip.i386
gnome-vfs2.i386
libXtst.i386
libXi.i386

Note that these packages will install a lot of additional stuff, you need all
the dependencies.

Additionally you should add following line to your /etc/yum.conf:

   exclude=openoffice.org* ooobasis3.0* ooobasis3.1*

to avoid the program to be updated/overwritten by the fedora repositories when
updating your system.

Note that this is not supported by OpenOffice.org at all, so please do not file
any issues reagarding this configuration.

I uninstalled the version of OpenOffice that came with Fedora 10 AMD x86x64
computer and then install OpenOffice 3.0 (with the Red Hat desktop integration)
on my Fedora 10 AMD x86x64 computer since it was a newer version and wanted to
try it out.
Once the installation was complete I used it with no problems, but when I
started my computer the next day I found the it would not start. I check the
installation and found that instead of installing the program in the usual
directory of Fedora, it installed in the /opt directory, and thought nothing of
it, since Adobe Reader and a few other program will install in this area and
work fine.
Is it maybe because of structure of the Fedora 10 O.S. that it can not find all
the files necessary to start OpenOffice? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Scoob
