It seems there is a problem with minimal value on Y axis if set to automatic and is very small or very close to the maximal value. An extra chart area appears below the scatter plot in the chart object which I am unable to remove. I tested this with larger numbers and the issue starts to occur when the numbers are of the order 10^-10 or smaller. When I saved the file as .xls and opened in Excel (MS Office XP) the chart was displayed correctly.
