the stack-ID is 429012
The OLE on slide 2 seems to cause the crash when the presentation is running.
I don't know if this is your or mav's issue.
Please have a look.

I've just re-tested the bug on the same platform, Windows ME (no other platform
displayed the bug) and I can view the complete slide show. I downloaded and
installed :-

OOo_2.0.2rc4_060227_Win32Intel_install.exe

followed by

OOo_2.0.2rc4_060227_Win32Intel_langpack_en-GB.exe

so it appears to fixed!

I could not reproduce the bug stated under windows XP OO.org 2.0 (2.0). The
application successfully opened up the presentation and the slide show worked
fine.
Yet I found another case were the OpenOffice crashed when I opened up a power
point presentation in OO and tried the slide show.
I have attached the presentation slide.
Note that this slide contains a graph produced by excel which is heavily
loaded with data points. Under Microsoft power-point the slide show is fine
but under OO 2.0 the program crashes without an error message, and the CPU
usage goes up to 100%. The crash also caused some other internal problem
(Internet explorer stopped responding) and I had to restart my computer.
I am using IBM ThinkPad T43 and my display adapter is ATI MOBILITY RADEON
X300.
Hope it is of any help.

In follow up to my previous post, I have realized that after the OO.org 2.0 on
XP crashes the first time if the file is recovered then the program will not
crash (the program changes state from not-responding to responding and vice
versa many times) and after a while the slide show will work.
I have further tested the case under Fedora Core 4 openoffice 2.0 (1.9.125)
the slide show appears to be fine.
Note that this unusual behaviour happens only on the slide show.

I can find only 1 crash report from you.
It's from Feb.28.2005 and occures in 645m52 (build 8824)
The title was 'Powerpoint'.
we opened an issue about this crash report. It is issue 18252 which is closed
again in the meantime. Please have a look to issue 18252, if it is the crash
report for this issue.
If you can still reproduce this crash (issue 46463) please send a 'new'
crashreport again.

Thanks
Christian.

Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure what you mean by header. Originally, it was
reported as as an Writer installation crash (OO 1.979) which I then realised
had happened because Impress had previously crashed.

I first reported it in on 1st April 2004, but it was no April fool's joke!!!

The email address I registered with was

I had an issue with Impress re crashing in Windows XP while opening a
powerpoint file. Recently I found that Powerpoint files with only .mpg files
in them open in OpenOffice OK without problems. The file in question that
caused problems had a large windows .wmv video linked in a slide. I think I
can use Impress OK if I am very careful about what video formats I use in my
presentations.

Cheers

tested again with OOo 2.0.1RC1.
Crash still occures. In fact, there are two crashes:
- on slide 3, when the second line should be displayed
- on slide 4, when slide transition starts (starting slideshow at slide 4)

any ideas what could be done to triage this?

FYI, when I first reported it, it crashed on slide 4 only (1.979), and then in
a later beta it started crashing on slide 3. I have tested it on 1.1.5 and it
is fine. I have recently upgraded to Sempron system and it crashes in crashrep
as you have found.

I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN 98SE: [680m122(Build8941)] and
all worked fine for me. It seems that zkahan's PC is the only one that
crashes. It's cruel, but we will have to close this issue if we can not get an

Hello,

Yes this is still a reproducible problem. I'm using an AOpen Aeolus MX440 8X
which uses an Nvidia chipset. I'm using R56.55 of the drivers as these default
to the correct refresh rate of 60Hz whereas the others don't. I have tried all
the other newer drivers for Windows ME available from Aopen's website :-

http://download.aopen.com.tw/default.aspx?sDropDownModel=Aeolus%20MX440%
208XDropDownWebsite=GL

, but I still get the crash in Impress.

Unfortunately, I can't try the latest beta version m113 because this does not
install on 98/ME - known bug - 51377, but I'd happy to try m114 when it comes
it out or if you can let me have access to it.

In fact, I've been testing every beta version that has come out out since I
reported this bug, and I machine still crashes when viewing the PowerPoint that
I've uploaded. In fact, the problem now occurs before the final picture slide -
it crashes when displaying some text in newer releases.

Over a month ago, I had to change my motherboard - everything else has remained
the same. Now when Impress crashes, instead of getting a Windows error in a
DLL, I get a BSOD 0E 28.

Incidentally, I can run m109 on my Windows 98SE laptop fine and view that
PowerPoint, but it has a different graphics chipset.

Happy to do any further testing - I'm a Windows developer.
