Reported for ATI graphics card, and tweaking the display driver settings mostly
cures the problem - duplicate to issue 48454.

I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN XP: [680m122(Build8941)] and
can confirm the problem with Atlon 3200+, 1GB, READON 9600 Series (Driver:
6.14.10.6387 dated Sept. 12. 2003). Problem disappeard (more or less) after I
set hardware acceleration to min in WIN System Administration.

I also checked with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)], there
'problems.ppt' was shown without problems with min and max hardware
acceleration.

@rebeccayates: cannot reproduce on my side. Is there a noticable difference, if
you select one of the Wipe (up|down|right|left) effects from the slide
transition task pane?

@rebeccayates: just saw that you're on a Radeon, maybe issue 48454 is related?

@cgu: turning hardware acceleration down to None in the Troubleshooting tab
(reached via Desktop-Display Properties) helps a lot on all transitions. It is
still not as smooth or fast as I would like but much better.

@thb: not sure if that issue is related as Impress has not crashed, even when I
cycled through all the transitions (via the Task Pane) a few times in Normal
view (this shows the same problem). My driver version was Catalyst v4.12, I just
updated it to CATALYST 5.3(v8.111) but (with hardware acceleration back on)
the problem still exists.

Please switch off the 'Use hardeware acceleration' in
'Tools/Options/StarOffice/View/Graphics output' and tell me if this speed up the
presentation.

This occurs in OpenOffice (I don't have StarOffice). I tried changing the '3D
View' settings under 'Tools/Options/OpenOffice/View' but none of these had any
effect on the speed.

I wondered if it might be caused by the OLE graphics which showed other display
issues (issues 50111, 50113, 50114, 50115), but deleting the OLE graphics from
two consecutive slides and adding normal text instead did not speed up the
transitions to, from or between the slides.

hi rebeccayates,
thank you for reporting this.
actually 2.0beta is in terms of development builds rather old.
please be so kind and retest with a current snapshot build and let us know if
the problem remains.
sorry about that :-(
