[graphics-issues] [Issue 60244] Rounded end of line
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=60244 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jan 29 01:55:20 -0800 2006 --- I was able to load my original logo into OO 1.1.5 and to check how I got rounded end of lines: What I did in OO1.1.5 was to create a polygon and then to delete all the points except the last two, that gave me a polygon that looked like a line, with both ends rounded. I tried the same trick into OO v2.0, and found out that it behaves differently: for as long as the polygon have at least 3 points, the corners are rounded, but as soon as I have only 2 points left, the corners of the polygon becomes square! If I add back a point to the polygon, the corners return automatically to their rounded shape. I think that the behaviour in OO 1.1.5 was better, there is no real good reason to turn off the rounded corners when there is only 2 corners. A partial work around it to move the third point almost in line with the other two points, that way the polygon looks like a straight line with rounded ends, but the solution is far from being nice. My suggestion is to restore the behaviour in OO 1.1.5 that maintains rounded corners even when there is only two corners left. I also suggest to add an arrow shaped as an half circle to the arrows library, so that lines can be made to have rounded ends. AW: I took a look at Your file and the problem is that in Your logo the lines are all single, they are not connected (no polyline). We do not have line start/end rounding, but we have polyline rounding, that means in a polyline You may choose how the edges at common points are handled (see line options dialog). Default is rounded. Since this is a OOo file already and there were no changes to the polyline formats, i cannot imagine how it should have been rounded in OOO1.1.5. Another possibility would be that You imported it e.g. from PPT and that the import was changed to import single lines? This would be something SJ could say something about, but first please let us know if it was PPt import or not. All in all we need more info here, but up to now it's not an error. So i send back to submitter for more info. AW-JOC2: Was Your logo a PPt import or was it constructed in OOo already? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When I created the logo, I was not aware of the rounded corners feature in the polyline, that's why I had to do something to connect the lines smoothly. I must admit that I remember doing it, but I forgot exactly how I did it. I guess, if needed I could re-install v1.1.5, but I'm a little afraid that it might interfere with the v2.0.1. When I loaded the logo that I created in 1.1.5 into v2.0.1, I saw that all the lines were no longer connected smoothly, the rounding was gone. It took me a few hours to find the polyline rounded corner feature, which I used to redraw the logo, but the end of the multi-lines were still not round, for that I took 2-3 days to finally figure out how to create an arrow shaped as a half circle. I loaded the new version (GAJTech.odg) of the logo that I did with v2.0.1, it looks identical to what I had before, but instead I used polylines and a half- circle arrow. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. There, a draw:stroke-dash=Dash 2 is set and also draw:marker-end-width=0.65cm draw:marker-end-center=false draw:marker-start-width=0.65cm draw:marker-start-center=false svg:stroke-linejoin=round style:parent-style-name=standard. All this are the flags for lines without line start/ends (for that, draw:marker-end and draw:marker-start would need to be set). These are also not set in the 'standard' parent style, i took a look. So from the file format there is no definition which would lead to rounded edges in OOo1.1.5. FYI. Maybe You have a 2nd machine to install 1.1.5 and take a look? I cannot imagine the line start/ends rounded in 1.1.5 with that file. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I've added the file GAJTech.sxd that had rounded end of line when loaded with OO v1.5, but now I get square end of line under v2.0. All the lines in the logo were rounded, which allowed me to have a smooth logo. Now, with OO v2.0, most of the lines appears disconnected. P.S. I've found a solution on how to add an arrow shaped as a half circle: Create a half circle, convert it to an curve, then ungroup the shape. For some reason I need to ungroup the half-circle; converting it to a curve is not enough to add the shape the the arrows library. I would like to suggest to add a half-circle to the default arrow library. Even though I found a work-around to my problem, I still think that OO v2.0 should have been able to load my original logo without changing it. I think that there is a bug there. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
