To ensure both were of the same version (there are some minor tweaks in the pptx, such as font size in places), I exported the pptx from Office 2007 as a ppt. Now it displays much better, ie the numbering almost works, except for it starting at 2. I don't know if this is a MS bug fix in the Office 2007 export filter. An updated screenshot attachment to follow. Other noticeable differences: Character spacing in the title not imported (set at 3px in original). Curiously, another page with numbering displays correctly (apart from gradient). As I haven't got Office XP, I cannot test if it is at fault. Import of the pptx file into Impress still does not work correctly, with the background missing. Note: The remaining numbering issue seems to be because it considers the first line as the first bullet point, even with it off on that paragraph, and fails to renumber the remaining points.
