This issue is about a crash. Playing a sound under linux and playing it under Windows are two completely different handled things. And please do not put more than one problem into one issue. Having an issue with several, not directly connected problems is the best way to get them never fixed. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Following is my system configuration. System Configuration: HP Pavilion Microsoft Windows XP Home edition version 2002 Service pack 2 Intel(R) Celeron(R)M 1.60 GHZ 504 MB RAM Open Office version: OOo-dev 3.2x (codeline DEV300) The bug could be replicated in following cases. Steps for replicating the bug: 1)Open Impress. 2)Create an empty presentation 3)Go to Insert > Object > Sound… 4)Insert the following type of sound files in the slide individually for testing i)Windows Media Audio file (.wma) – On inserting this type of sound file and After go to Slide Show > Custom Animation and then clicking play in the custom animation dialog, a black box is displayed in place of the sound plug-in icon. ii)MP3 Format sound file (.mp3) – Same case as Windows Media Audio file (.wma) file. iii)Wave Sound file (.wav) – On inserting this type of sound file the sound plays but after sound finish you go to Slide Show > Custom Animation and then click play a black screen comes and it not able to play. I have to click it in the icon to play sound again.Another problem is that when I set the volume for sound file and after coming back from another slide it will automatically set to maximum every time I have to set the volume. iv)Music Instrumental Digital Interface file (.midi) – Same case as MP3 Format sound file (.mp3) file. I used same sound files that Asmita Kunwar has used and also used another files but the problem remains continue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=90636 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 17 16:37:28 + 2008 --- OK for the point 2 and 3, I am voting for the issue 43306. Thanks. I am using the build from openoffice.org (french version), not from Mandriva. For the point 1, to reproduce the crash, I rename /usr/lib/jvm* to /usr/lib/jvm*.other. I rename /opt/JMF-2.1.1e to other name. Launch OOo. In Options, OpenOffice.org, Java, now there is checked "Free Software Foundation", version 1.4.2, (kaffe)... But I had uninstalled kaffe before (!?). Only JRE from Sun was installed and now deactivated. When I click in the gallery to play a sound (.wav), OOo Mediaplayer launches and OOo crashes with this message in the terminal : /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice: line 131: 10262 Erreur de segmentation "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@" When I launches OOo again, no sent of report is asked, but a restoration of my document is asked. If this can help.Regards. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Point 1: have you been asked to send a crash report and did you do so? The crash is not reproducible here on Suse. the player comes up but simply does not play. So no crash here. Is the Office build an original one or from Mandriva? Thanks for info. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It exists with JRE from Sun or with Kaffe. Yes, JMF was missing and this is the cause of the error. But I reopen this issue because of three reasons: 1. The missing of JMF should not make a segmentation error but only an alert to the user. This error issue is a bit dirty. 2. OOo for Linux should not require JMF that was not supplied by distribution or by OpenOffice.org. A beginner or a not expert cannot install this on Linux. JMF is not a free open source software. 3. Very common sound formats as MP3 or ogg are not compatible with JMF for Linux but a lot of GPL MP3 or ogg players exist on Linux. Why is OOo not used them ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
