Hi,
Impress is slow to load large ppt files that are quickly loaded by MS Powerpoint
on windows. I regularly edit and view ppt files that contain lots of pngs and
jpegs from scientific / genomic experiments. I mention this because there is a
genuine need and I'm not just fond of inserting fancy graphics for visual
pleasure. For example, I am currently working on 67 slide presentation that is
97MB. It takes about ~5 minutes to load the file on opensuse 11.1 using
OpenOffice version 3.0.0.9. MS loads the file in a few seconds! This is after
going to Tools->Options -> Memory and increasing the graphics cache to the
maximum values (256MB for OO use and 256MB per object) and cache for "number of
inserted objects" to 65. I'd be grateful if the next version of OO can load
large files as quickly as MS Powerpoint.
Thanks,
Daniel
