Hi Ingo,

the file names of the 'download' installation sets of the builds we (Sun) are
creating currently include the version number (3.0) and the milestone number
(5). The following example shows how I currently rename the files to adapt the
official file name schemes
(http://development.openoffice.org/releases/filenames.html)

OOo_3.0.5_SolarisSparc_install.tar.gz
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_SolarisSparc_install_en-US.tar.gz

OOo_3.0.5_Solarisx86_install.tar.gz
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_Solarisx86_install_en-US.tar.gz

OOo_3.0.5_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz

OOo_3.0.5_unxlngi6_install.tar.gz
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz

OOo_3.0.5_Win32Intel_install.exe
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe

OOo_3.0.5_MacOSXIntel_install.dmg
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m5_MacOSXIntel_AQUA_install_en-US.dmg

It would be very helpful if that naming scheme could be adapted for OOo-Dev
Developer Snapshot builds. The same is valid for OpenOffice_Dev_languagepack
'download' installation sets.

For me it is no problem to change the name again. Tell me, which version you
prefer. But I would not remove the productname and the productversion
completely.
An easy fix would be something like

OOo_2.0_src680_m180_Win32Intel_install.exe
OOo_2.0_src680_m180_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
OOo_2.0_src680_m180_Solarisx86_install.tar.gz
OOo_2.0_src680_m180_SolarisSparc_install.tar.gz

But is it important to inform about src680 and ood680?
The names of the RPMS are something like:

ooo-dev-core01-2.0.4-180.i586.rpm

which works fine and contains all relevant information.

OOo-dev-2.0.x doesn't look good to me. Is based upon 2.0.x on or heading towards
2.0.x (x = a concrete number)? I think we should continue to have numbering
scheme related to the one for the stable releases.

The naming of the ood680_m1 developer snapshot build wasn't as wrong as
supposed. I usually name the files like this:

OOo_2.0.180_Win32Intel_install.exe
OOo_2.0.180_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
OOo_2.0.180_Solarisx86_install.tar.gz
OOo_2.0.180_SolarisSparc_install.tar.gz

The 180 is the minor version name and in case of the ood680_m1 it was 1
resulting in a file name like OOo_2.0.1_Platform_install.ext

As you see the OOo_2.0.1 part was correct in this case but it really was
unfortunate.

It might be a good idea to change the naming scheme for developer snapshots to
include the master branch name and the minor version.

...like

src680_m184_Win32Intel_install.exe
src680_m184_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
src680_m184_Solarisx86_install.tar.gz
src680_m184_SolarisSparc_install.tar.gz

Developer snapshot builds are usually built from src680 and the ood680 that MH
uploaded was an exception because the ood680 is already a release branch. Martin
decided to upload the first build as developer snapshot...

Before I change that I need to ask several people to change it within the
packaging process. Maybe there's an issue regarding the file name length...
And I would like to know if such a naming change is accepted by others. Added MH
to CC list.

we should change the nomenclature of Development snapshots from OOo-2.0.x to
OOo-dev-2.0.x to avoid such clashes.

Developer builds download page refers to 2.0.1 RC5, whereas latest release
candidate is 2.0.4.
Also all mirrors have files with 2.0.1 in name:
OOo_2.0.1_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
OOo_2.0.1_Win32Intel_install.exe
