Under MacOS the program directory is not relevant and only used internally. You can start the office binary via OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice from every shell. It's a platform releated issue, "program" is only a link to "MacOS" and that is probably the root cause. Won't be fixed in the office! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The soffice executable should be usable from outside of the /program directory. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. After connecting a debugger, I see the following error is thrown during when the BootstrapConnector tries to launch soffice: >> No Info.plist file in application bundle or no NSPrincipalClass in the Info.plist file, exiting However, the Info.plist file exists and appears in tact in the /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents directory (which I assume is the correct location). Also, I can launch soffice on the command line, if I launch it from the /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/program directory. However, if I move up one directory and try to launch soffice from /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents , for example ( ./program/soffice ) , it fails to launch on the command line and I get the same error as above. Same thing happens if I try to launch from any directory outside of /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/program - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
