Hi,

after i found this problem on some other notebooks (winXp, w2k) i had a closer
look inside the registry and found:

- so 7.0 was installed (network installation and user installation)
- oo 2.0.2 was installed (all user option)

so the com.sun.star.servicemanager shows the following entries:

user account (so 7.0 user installation)

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}]
@=StarOffice Service Manager (Ver 1.0)

@=com.sun.star.ServiceManager

admin account (no so 7.0 user installation)

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}]
AppID={82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}
@=OpenOffice.org Service Manager (Ver 1.0)

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}\LocalServer32]
@=D:\\StdProg\\soffice8\\program\\soffice.exe -nodefault -nologo

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}\NotInsertable]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{82154420-0FBF-11d4-8313-005004526AB4}\VersionIndependentProgID]
@=com.sun.star.ServiceManager

both programs are registered using the same CLSID, but i am pretty sure that
instantiating the servicemanager as user will create the so 7.0 sm, with
admin privileges one will instantiate the oo 2.0.2 sm ...

- the so 7.0 user installation overrules the oo 2.0.2 installation ...
uninstalling so 7.0 removes these entries, so oo 2.0.2 will fail ...

this seems a similar problem as described in
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63367
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=51570

it would be nice, if someone could create a cleaning tool to reset the
registry entries to the default all user values ...

And in OOo 1.1.5: You can install OpenOffice.org 1.1 along side of an older
version of OpenOffice.org. If you later choose to deinstall the older version of
OpenOffice.org, you must call the installation program of the newer version and
choose 'Repair'. This ensures that the new version is correctly registered in
your system. This is not a known limitation. This is just to be on the save
side.

I can't rerpoduce with your responsefiles. We've got no confirmation by the
communitiy. I can't imagine what might cause these difficulties and see no
chance to help you. Maybe you find help in the mailing list
(users@openoffice.org).

Hi,

meawhile i found the following statement in the readme.txt file:

You can install OpenOffice.org 2.0 alongside of an older version of
OpenOffice.org. If you later choose to deinstall the older version of
OpenOffice.org, you must call the installation program of the newer version
and choose 'Repair'. This ensures that the new version is correctly
registered in your system.

so i think this is a know limitation ...

I can't reproduce. SO7_pp6 is installed in d\StarOffice 7 and OOo 2.0.2 in
D:\OpenOffice.org 2.0. Uninstalling SO7 doesn't harm OOo. It's starting without
errors. Please give a detailed step by step description to reproduce.

Hi,

I will create a *.zip attachment, containing the 5 response files I used
to install/uninstall so 7.0 in the following order:

net_rsp.txt network installation (administrator account)
  - setup -net -r:./rsp_files/net_rsp.txt

user_rsp.txt user installation (user account)
  - setup -r:./rsp_files/user_rsp.txt

pu_rsp.txtpu 6 install (user account)
  - so-7-pp6-bin-windows.exe -r:D:/rsp_files/pu_rsp.txt
(you have to use an absolut path for the -r option here)

user_ui_rsp.txt user uninstall (user account)
  setup -r:./rsp_files/user_ui_rsp.txt

net_ui_rsp.txtnetwork uninstall (administrator account)
  setup -net -r:./rsp_files/net_ui_rsp.txt

For the oo 2.0.2 installation I user the administrator account with the
shared install option ...

I have also installed oo 1.1.5 and so 5.2 on my notebook ...

HTH
