I get paid by the word, and work to very tight word count limits (print media, not online). It is absolutely critical for me and my colleagues that the OpenOffice.org word count function be identical to Microsoft Word in this respect. I don't give two figs what is correct word count or who is right and who is wrong. I am a strong proponent of Linux, OpenOffice.org and free software in my organisation, but this word count issue makes it IMPOSSIBLE for us to ditch MS Word for OOo. At the VERY LEAST, can you not design the word count option to allow the user to select which style of word count he wants? Let those who want correct word count have it -- and those of us who NEED MS Word-style word count have what WE need to.
