fixed in the CWS.

TL-Nemeth. It seems there was a lot more potential trouble in the bush aside
from what CMC had fixed. Thanks for your work!

Have you solved your problems with EIS or should I do sth, e.g. add the patch to
another CWS?

nemeth-tl: I have made a CWS, called thesau03. It seems, there is a problem
with EIS, because I cannot modify the attributes of this CWS.

Solved problems: with missing .dat file, constructor deallocated
the encoding, list and offst variables, but did't initialize them with
NULL value, hence destructor caused a crash. OOo also read the deallocated
encoding during thesaurus usage. Unsufficient memory was also a potential
source of error.

nemeth-tl: Thanks for your comments.
I have made a stress test with the en_US thesaurus.
My test file have contained 21 million different words and character sequences.
I've made bad index and dic files, etc. It works without bug (except when dat
file is missing). I look also the source, and I have fixed some memory handling
errors
(unchecked memory allocation (may be bug with less memory), and bad free() calls
at missing dat file). Do I make a CWS for my fix, or attach my patch?
Regards, Laci

Perhaps this issue fixed by Caolán McNamara in m146 (CWS cmcfixes20):

make mythes safe against empty thesasurus
(if mythes sees an empty thesasurus it will crash on use)
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55603

Is there any bug report with m146 or newer milestones?

According to the currently reports available the last version it was found is
m145.
But according to a colleague crash-reports from m146 are rare for what reason
ever and it is also a rather new release. So maybe it is just that there is not
yet a significant user base for that version.

But if you've already looked at the code and it looks to you that CMC already
did all that was could be improved in that code part this is good news at well.
I was aware that he fixed something but according to his description it sounded
somewhat casually and I was wondering since then if there are still other code
lines left that should be impoved to check for unexpecxted situations.

As said, if you think it is already fixed I'll be glad to hear this!

There were another 18 reports for SRC680m1 with the same stack.

What exactly does this mean:

char* pText = 088cde38 , int len = 0x9775198

Does it mean the method was called with an empty string as parameter? And that
len was at memory position 0x9775198? Or is 0x9775198 the *value* of len?

I just discovered today that for a plain char * variable (and at least the
Windows OS) the crash reporter really seems to be capable to write the character
string (for String or OUString this does not work).

But since the string length is rather large (if the second parameter is correct)
the string is likely corrupted.
I asked the developer of the crash-report tool and he said that is the
default output and thus if the string is too long (or broken) this does not mean
that it was a pointer to an empty string.

And since the second argument is not a pointer but a flat int the value
0x9775198 is the hexadecimal value of that argument. Which is rather large and
(if interpreted as 'int' represents a negative number) also indicates that
something is wrong.
