If you select Check in all languages (OOo-Menubar-Tools-Options...-Language 
Settings-Writing Aids-Options) and you have the corresponding dictionaries 
installed, sentences like Ce sont quelques words en français are spellchecked 
without problem, ie. no red wavy underline from the auto-spellchecker and no 
moan from the spellchecker.

You can assign parts of the text their language on the character level. Then 
that language will be used for spell checking.
