The new way of distributing dictionaries through extensions makes this small issue of no significance at all, to my mind. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [lingucomponent-issues] [Issue 76093] hyph_en_GB and hyph_en_US contain the same files
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76093 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 26 08:03:23 + 2007 --- The observation that these two are the same is correct. It is quite possible, and perhaps even likely, that we may want them to diverge in the future and I can see pros and cons to using the same file for en_US and en_GB (and en_ZA, en_AU etc.) - on the one hand having a common file conserves a small amount of space, but it does lead to loss of generality. The only reason they are still the same is that we have not yet focussed our attention on the hyphenation dictionary, however given how extensively we've updated the en_GB dictionary since 2002 it looks as though this task is long overdue. I'd like to look at the problem in a little more detail and report back. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Bay be in future someone will find words with different hyphenation in those English variations, and so OOo will be flexible enough to regard those differences. I do not believe that this is a bug. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. On the wiki, it seems that there are two hyphenation files - en_US and en_GB but they're the same (BTW, they _lack_ license information). Note that the en_US file is not distributed with community builds. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Maybe there should be only one? Unfortunately, both files lack proper copyright info (it isn't enough to say they're converted from TeX). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Both archives are of the same size. The files inside both archives have the same size, but different names: one with en_GB and the other with en_US in the name. And Readme files in both archives contain identical information. Both Readmes say that these hyphenation files can be used for both US and UK English. It seems to me, that these are the same files with different names. Please, check. If so, please, make a single entry for English (UK US) hyphenation dictionary instead of two separate (like with Thesaurus, which is used for both US and UK English). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
