Feature request title should be self-explanatory.
1) Avoid annoying error values in dynamic spreadsheets, 2) make it possible to
write IF(SEARCH(.. , ..)) and similar. That should be benefit enough.

2009 ---
Those functions use the same semantics as in the other spreadsheet
application. Changing the behavior will make fail formulas that use some
IF(ISERROR(FIND(...)) construct. Future releases will have the IFERROR()
