Sorry I disagree,

If the spreadsheet cell is formatted as date then the 1/2/11 input should come
out as a date not a fraction. it actually came out as 1/2 in small type followed
immediately by /11 in normal type.

I believe this is a formatting error and may get repeated, damage date
calculations etc within a spreadsheet. please reconsider it as a possibly
serious bug.

Thanks

it's not a bug, it's a feature ;-)

there is an automatism to replace specific input while typing, here it's to
replace 1/2 with ½, it's the same with 1/4 or 3/4

you can turn this off via menu Tools - AutoCorrect Options - Replace, just
delete the line with the 1/2 item

this feature exists also in the other applications

Hi

not used to your bug report system but bear with me.

tonight I attempted to make a date input into a spreadsheet already formatted as
nn:d:mm:yy. (spaces not : as shown)

I attempted as usual to enter the date as 1/2/11.

however it was formatted as 1/2 (fraction) and 11.

I understand this is not too important for myself but could be for other users.
Also it could be a warning of future errors in similarity.

2/2/11 turned out OK and attempting to reformat the cells in the column made no
difference, even after re-inputting.

screenshots wont really help in this case.. but i thought it worth reporting.
