To finally resolve this, I've done the remaining change myself. The changed
behavior is now: If there is an AutoInput suggestion at the time the input is
finished, the final AutoCorrect action will be done with the cursor at the end
of the input. It's on CWS dr54, changed: inputhdl.cxx 1.68.54.1.

1. The selection should be changed only if there is an AutoInput suggestion,
otherwise when editing in the middle of a cell, the final AutoCorrect call is
broken.

2. The selection at the end, aSel, is wrong when editing multiple paragraphs.

3. As mentioned before, if the AutoCorrect substitution isn't at the end of the
text, it doesn't work (like 1st and 2nd).

4. This will do the AutoCorrect change even if it isn't in the cell from which
the text is copied (have an unformatted 1st in a cell, type 1 and enter,
you'll have it superscripted).

Point 1 has to be changed (you could also keep the selection in place, and use
ESelection::Adjust to make sure the cursor is at the end - this would also solve
Point 2).

Points 3 and 4 might be accepted as limitations. But then again, I'm also happy
enough with the current state. So, anyone who considers the change important -
will such a solution be good enough?

If it's just about a single 1st, then it would probably be enough to change
the selection before the existing CompleteAutoCorrect call in EnterHandler (but
I haven't tried). If it's supposed to work for more complicated text like 1st
and 2nd, I guess you'll have to dig deeper into EditEngine's AutoCorrect
handling.

nn,
I was looking at it - is there a way to do a superscript without doing a
autocorrection? - else i will use the i47233 functions.
