The date default is showing 30/12/1899 and can not be changed.

This seems odd because it makes date value:
0=30/12/1899
1=31/12/1899
2=1/1/1900

The choice of 30 December appears to have no logic, and may be an error.

This compares to MS Excel:
0=31/12/1899
1=1/1/1900

i.e. 1 being the first date of the century which is logical.

It is therefore possible to have an MS Excel workbook with date formulae that
get completely screwed up when opened in Calc.

Result opening attached in MS Excel:
01/01/1900      02/01/1900      2.00
        21

Result opening attached in Calc:
31/12/1899      1/01/1900       2.00
        21

This would appear to affect all workbooks with date values.

TT.

PS: Couldn't work out attachments so here are the MS Excel cell values/formulae:

A1 & B1 formatted as dates, C1 as decimal 2, all other cells normal so display
is as above.

1       =A1+1   =B1
        =B1&A1
