Using an x-y chart created from two columns; date and bodyweight
Date in spreadsheet is in user-defined format (YYYY-MM-DD-NN)

Left and right-click chart and select "edit"

Format|Axis|X Axis
Tab: "Scale" - date shows in date format
Tab: "Numbers"
Start selecting a user-defined date format MMM-DD
Left-hand column highlight jumps to "user-defined"
Finish entering user-defined date format
"OK" to save setting

Format|Axis|X Axis
Tab: "Numbers"
Left-hand column now has "date" hightlighted, rather than "user-defined" but
"user-defined" is written under the selection panel in which MMM-DD has been
entered
Tab: "Scale" - date now shows in number format rather than in date format
