So what you're saying is that this shortcut should not be shown when you
customize Calc? - I totally agree - you should change Open Office then so that
you don't confuse users with shortcuts that is not meant to be shown in Calc's
customization when they're actually not for Calc.

Cheers

PC using Windows XP Pro SP2, OpenOffice Build 1.9.125 language English, and MAC
OS 10.3, OpenOffice build 1.1.2 and Neo Office /j 1.1

This is what we tried to replicate this issue.

Here is how to make assigning shortcut to sort not work on the PC

1) Open Calc
2) Input random numbers into cells A1:A5 (ex. 5, 3, 2, 10, 1)
3) For the PC - On the top menu select Tools->Customize
4) Press the Keyboard tab
5) In the ‘Shortcut keys’ list select Ctr+Shift+S
6) In the Category list select Table (this is where the problem lies)
7) In functions list select Sort
8) Click modify
9) Click Ok
10) Select A1:A5
11) Press Ctrl+Shift+S
12) Nothing happens

However if you replace step 6) with "In the Category list select Data"
(given that the shortcuts were Reset) the Sort menu will pop up.
This is also applicable to Sort Ascending and Sort Descending.

On the MAC we couldn’t find the Table category (see step 6), hence we couldn’t
recreate the failure.

In general we had a hard time isolating the problem and would require a basic
walkthrough of what David did be for we could verify the problem.

This could be a small issue because both Table Sort and Data Sort are listed
under the same name (“Sort”) when added to the shortcut listing (see attached
image). The issue is not a critical problem because a user can still sort the
data using the top menu ‘Data->Sort’ option. However it can be confusing for
users who want to assign shortcuts to Sort a common function in spreadsheets.
There can be other issues similar to where two tasks have the same name but
different functionality in the shortcut list.

We are pretty certain that when a average user looks at the image in the
attachment they will come to a conclusion that both ctrl+6 and ctrl+7 do the
same thing, when in reality ctrl+6 (data sort) works in Calc and ctrl+7 (Table
sort) doesn’t do anything that’s visible or can be observed by the user.
