The question is what should be done better?
The handling about linked sheets? Here we have Issue # .
Not naming the hidden linked sheet with the path and file name? Not a good idea
as we have to know the file name and location and implementing another point to
store these data would break the ODF Specification for the document and is not
really usefull. BTW normally you will never see this linked sheet normally.
Not showing the hidden sheet in a two sheet document after moving away/deleting
the one and only shown sheet is also bad because you never know if you have a
document open or not, if the document is broken or not.

Please specify exactly what should be improved before re-opening this Issue.

I do not understand cache files and how the software works. So forgive me for
sounding naive.

Matthias (mmp) said (in related Issue 71142) it could be a visual feedback
problem Quote: If the created sheet is selected (visible in the target
document) then I expect less confusion on the user side.

I would support Matthias in that. When I move an egg from one box to the other,
I look at the egg destination box, not the empty space it leaves behind. Moving
the focus along with the data would go some way towards making sheet moves look
simpler and understandable.

I am not sure what the 'hidden' sheet name does for me when it is visible, other
than confuse me. If the 'hidden' sheet name were shown each time a sheet is
moved, it would be consistent. But I think it only happens when the last sheet
is moved. In a six sheet file, I move five sheets out and the origin sheets just
vanish. Just like an eggbox when I take the first five eggs out. It is only in
the case of the last sheet (or egg) that the behaviour becomes special. What
would happen if the one-and-only sheet remaining were to revert to the default
name (ie. 'Sheet1')?

Can you ask Matthias to look at what I am talking about?

not meaningful to me. I would find it more meaningful to have it revert back to
the default empty sheet name. When I move the last egg out of the box, I see the
empty box, not a complicated file structure description of where it went. I note
that a single empty sheet is called 'Sheet1', could it not simpsay 'Sheet1'?

Hi,

this is not a bug but a missunderstanding of how Calc works.

You have a document containing two sheets, one visible and one hidden as this
one is the 'Cache' for the Link on the visible sheet. If you now move the
visible sheet away to another file, the formerly hidden one becomes visible as a
Calc file must containb at least one visible sheet. The Sheet name is the
location of the linked file with full Path. This is because Calc needs to know
there the linked sheet is located to be able to get it up to date.

So I close this Issue as invalid.

I presume you have closed it because it works as intended. Can I reopen it as a
request for an enhancement because I think it could be done better?

Hi,

I don't understand this Issue, please describe in a better way or attach a
visualized instruction on how to reproduce. Calc never clears out the whole
sheet if it's the last one in the file.

Move sheet results in a change to the appearance of the file name in the tab. It
looks like it adds the full DOS path.

Here are the steps I took:
1. Open the first spreadsheet.
2. A dialog appears asking if I want macros. Click 'Enable macros'.
3. A dialog appears asking if I want to update links. Click 'Yes'.
4. Open the second spreadsheet.
5. A dialog appears asking if I want macros. Click 'Enable macros'.
6. A dialog appears asking if I want to update links. Click 'Yes'.
7. In the first spreadsheet, go to the Edit menu, select 'Sheet', 'Move/Copy'.
8. In the 'Move/Copy sheet' dialog go to the 'To document' drop down and select
the second spreadsheet.
9. In the same dialog there is a unchecked box marked 'Copy'. Leave it
unchecked.
10. Look at the name on the tab at the bottom left.
10. Click 'OK'.
11. The first spreadsheet becomes empty. Look at the name on the tab at the
bottom left and see that it has changed to include the full DOS path.
