changed component to framework as this is not a special calc problem,
re-assigned too.

Ok, I suppose the problem is more generic than only Calc.

Whenever I try, through a samba (Windows share)-mounted volume, to open a file
which is already opened on the other machine, I get the following error in
syslog:

Jan 20 10:16:50 localhost kernel: smb_proc_readX_data: offset is larger than
SMB_READX_MAX_PAD or negative!
Jan 20 10:16:50 localhost kernel: smb_proc_readX_data: -35  64 || -35  0

This happens 5 times spaced by 30 seconds (so I suppose the timeout is about 3
minutes) then I get a General I/O Error message in an OOo dialog.

There are 2 problems, AFAIK:

-the process seems to be X-Window-modal, so I can't do anything else but waiting
for 3 minutes, not knowing what happens.
- the error message is not appropriate (I suppose this is a system-side vision
of file locking?).

Somewhere in the web, I've found a German page telling that a cifs-mount
(instead of a smb one) would solve the problem, but I've tried that also and
this didn't do anything.

bersyl91,
have you tried OO 2.1? What if you try to just copy open file (via file-
manager or command line)?

(I also suggest to change component to Framework and subcomponent to open-
import, as you seem to be having problem with import)
