Same happens, but now it happen if I just open a new calc. Then the memory just increase until the memory is full. Basically my calc is useless. I cannot use calc at all! No workaround. Only solution for me is to use Microsoft Excel. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. But now I have one of the big ones open for some few minutes and the memory is increasing again. I took the c:\user\espenf\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice.org folder. The administrator folder was not changed. This folder only exist from when I installed the computer. While I have been writing this, the memory consumption for soffice.bin has past 1.1 GB! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Calc was working fine in OOo 3.1. First I though it was only Vista and big spreadsheets, but after upgrade to win 7 and a fresh start, it happened again with an empty spreadsheet! (I have also installed MS Office 2007.) First time I open a spreadsheet in OOo it works (usually). Second time (and this time I had only opened a excel spreadsheet first) the soffice.bin just eats up the memory. In some few minutes it has increased from 60MB to 1GB and that's about where it stops since I have 2GB memory and have Opera and Outlook running also in the background. Then if I try to save or close the program, it usually crash the whole openoffice and the crash report that OOo starts crashes too. So I have to restart windows to get OOo to run again. Basically this means I cannot use calc at all or I have not used it on my win 7 computer since OOo 3.2 because it crashes the computer every time. My home disc is on a network, I don't know if this has anything to say for how OOo handles storing of the files. So there has to be some memory leak somewhere! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Note that when at the end of the day all documents are closed still almost 30MB is actually allocated more that at the start. The code needed to handle no documents is the same, so you could say that 30MB has leaked. If that is caused by unnecesarrily loaded code, or by data structures that should have been freed makes no difference to my poor old computer. You may get the right feeling if you try XP Pro with 512MB of RAM for a day, and try to do some actual office work, virus scannner, e-mail, adobe reader, MS Word reader, internet explorer and Openoffice simultaneously (respectively: 43MB, 18MB, 60MB, 13MB, 28MB, 69MB - and some 160MB needed by XP kernel memory). The Windows XP Task Manager is not a tool to measure real memory consumption. What you see as virtual memory allocated is the amount _reserved_ by the application, not the amount consumed and physically allocated. 2. To compare start and end you need to load the document twice to make sure that all code is loaded that is needed to handle the document. Comparison should only be done from the start point when the document was closed the first time. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Actually the startup memory use from OO2.3 is not so much larger then 2.2.1. I think opening a spreadsheet and then closing it again but ending up with 54 + 28 - 40 - 20 = 22MB memory more in use can be called a memory leak (but not necessarily). Similar effects occur under WinXP Pro. Metrics have been determined using taskman.exe I don't think the memory use is so small that it goes unnoticed. Actually when you work all day with OpenOffice (problem may be in Writer too) you will notice the problem in other more qualitative ways (the disk access LED). I will gladly help to reproduce this problem if you would please reopen it. Ferry Toth - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Closing that and starting a new empty Calc doc goes to the same memory footprint. Then closing the empty document, and opening a very simple spreadsheet (no calculations, just text) increases the memory footprint to 60MB + 34 MB. Closing that again (no windows open anymore) the footprint goes to 54MB + 28MB. This is a much larger footprint for OO2.3 compared to 2.2.1 Ferry - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
