Isn't this just how Calc works by design? Excel supports Names as collection associated with a Sheet. Calc does not (at the moment) and all names are global. Names are *NOT* moved or copied when you copy a sheet. Clearly if you move a sheet inside a workbook then the name is still valid. If you move a sheet to another workbook, then in the source workbook these references become undefined. This isn't a bug, it's really linked to 60108 - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. However instructions clearly describe the type of operation - typical spreadsheet - eg. :- Incomes and \ or Expenditures Organised on a monthly basis - with summary at end Localised cell names - eg. currency conversion rates - Euros to Pounds , mileage , mileage rate . Named cells being used to ensure that the formula linkage to the cells does not get lost - as it very easily can - es[pecially with Excel . Carried over cell names \ values - eg. end of month mileage , end of month bank balance - carried over from one month to the next . Month based cells - values - also linked into summary sheet . Construct first month work sheet - eg. April Year Start - then try constructing the subsequent month work sheets - that's when your fun and games starts . Also construct the summary sheet - expenditure categories , income , VAT etc. . - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The old method was to suffix the names - caused great confusion . The new method , although nicer , just deletes the name - this doesn't deal with the issue - just ignores it . Situation - spreadsheet being constructed for year on month by month basis . Each month has local cells - eg. Euro rate , mileage , end of month mileage etc. . Other cells in the spread sheet need to refer to these locally within the sheet . Further some of the cell values must be able to be accessed from other work sheets - eg. for each month - eg. October - there is a cell to carry over the mileage at the end of the month - eg. September . Copying the work sheet - eg. September to new October - causes the cell names to disappear - rather than just being indicated in error - which is one solution - another is to allow local cell names ( same name different sheets ) and to allow cell names to be constructed on the basis of the work sheet name . You need to test the program out with the view of how it will be used . The last thing that you need are people saying WTF's ! The user should have to expend as least effort as possible . - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
