In that situation it is quite common to have several people working on the same project from systems that are setted with different languages. In that situation, using different translations to name the _same_ symbols is not acceptable. And the proposed solution don't like it? Change it yourself is not serious. This problem is not only with French: Spanish Greek characters are also translated. In fact, some translations are wrong: epsilón is not a Spanish word...
