The Speed.odt is just 112k text. This saves snappily. The Speed with Graphics.odt is much shorter, and a bit smaller, but includes graphics cut and pasted from Draw. OpenOffice is slow to load and save the document with graphics. The more graphics there are, the slower. The captions make no difference, I have tried that (trying to identify the source of the problem)... The problem seems to be that graphics copied from Draw are saved as elements (lines, etc.), all inside the contents.xml. Pasting the graphics as Metafile makes the content.xml part of the document obviously much smaller; and saving a snap. Interestingly, maybe, having the same graphics all in one Draw document seems to save much more quickly. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It seems that Writer saves every line and object of every graphic each time I hit the save button.
