Ah, it is indeed via creating a new char style and OOo Writer proposes TNR as
font though Default para style has Verdana.
And as explained, somewhere in the past, that behaviour was different. See my
default template, that does offer Verdana and not TNR.

sorry for the delay ;-)
How is it possible that my current default template shows verdana for the font
in charStyle Default?
When I create a new template now, change parStyle Default etc. the charStyle
Default will always show TNR (also in 2.1 I just tried it).
It works the same, but does show a different name and looks strange to me. That
confused me.
(More words won't make it more clear I think ;-) )

How is it possible that my current default template shows verdana for the font

How did you look into your character style Default? IME it is not possible to
select Edit for Default character style. Or do you talk of creating a new
char style and OOo Writer proposes TNR as font though Default para style has
Verdana? I think, this is already tracked, but could not find the issue so
far...

Hm? the behavior did not change... Or did you fins anything that went different
than in OOo 2.x?
I compared it and the usage of the default char style worked equally... did I
miss anything?

Hi friends,

The default character style Default, should follow a change in paragraph style
Default

1. create a new document from default template,
2. change the default par. style to another font/size (say A to B)
the default character style still has the begin value (A) of the default par
style.

Especially since it is not possible to change the char. style Default, this is
rather nasty ..

Mind: I have a template defined with default par style Verdana where the default
Character Style also is in Verdana...
I made that template some n OOo-versions ago, so there must be a regression
somewhere ;-)

I do not understand, what you mean by char style default does not FOLLOW para
style default.
The default char style is a virtual style, means if you have applied a certain
char style to some text, you can remove it by using the Default char style.
the Default char style does not have any special values and you cannot derive
other styles from it.

Hmm, what I mean, is that the char style Default 'is' Verdana, in a Document
where the par style Default is TNR. Anyway, it does show the name Verdana, but
indeed it does not apply it.

But it is confusing, since in my older template both styles are/mention Verdana
as font. Which must origin from the moment that I made that template, because
the default OOo Writer template uses TNR...

No, the default char style cannot have any value; it is just used to remove any
other char style so that the values of the current para style or any other hard
format.

Yes I understand that. But still I'm confused because of the changed behavior.

(and yes 101608 was caused by proxy/connection error somewhere)
