Yes, now I see, you hope for "auto-complete" and will be disappointed some 
times.

Not a particular WRITER probem, similar problems in CALC.

Known problem, pls. see Issue 53910

I would like to reopen this issue. Attached video file (flash) for reproduction
this defect step by step. On video you could see demonstration of problem for
ftp hyperlink only ( address 10.10.10.1), but for telnet will be the same 
problem. 

Again, if address will as hostname.com , all hyperlinks will be created
successfully. Problem only for NUMERICAL IP addresses and for FTP-TELNET.

I checked with "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE-multilingual version German UI activated
[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]" and can NOT confirm problems to create ftp-hyperlinks.
So WFM 

I believe that I see the problems in
"Numerical_IP_address_hyperlink_problems.odt", it seems that reporter wanted to
create FTP and TELNET links, but the result were http:// links?

Pls. feel free to reopen the issue if you find out that the problem still exists
in a current stable version (3.1.1 or later).
Please always specify OS(s) and platform(s) you used for your test.
Before you file further issues or post again here, please read our guidelines on

contribute a clear step by step instruction containing all observations (error
messages ...), _every_key_press_and_every_mouse_click_ how to reproduce the
problem, and explain why you believe that your results are unexpected.
That means (for example): 
 do not write something like „I am not able to ...“, but
