A partial work around to updating table formatting is using a macro that re- applies a table AutoFormat. However there are a few bugs in creating the AutoFormats: - Text flow - disallow table to split across pages is NOT retained - Text flow - Vertical alignment is not retained. - ...may be some more I have not tested all. I appreciate the enormous task of introducing table styles (requested for some 5 years now). The first column is reserved for adding an example number. Thing is, I've got to change the size of all those 'first columns' to accept longer numbers. I'd like to set them all to .5. If one could set properties for a 'default' table, or adjust all tables from one style--whoowee!--I'd be thrilled. As it was, I had to take my document to Word to do this (ugh . . . ) Another absolute pain is having to set 'spacing to contents' for each and every table. It seems that if there was a 'set as default' check box in the 'table properties' dialogue window we'd be a step ahead on this one. Once OOo was way ahead of MSO in it's consistent use of styles. Now even MS-Word has a Table Styles. This would have a clear usability impact for new users. Autoformat is a kind of table style, but it is called Autoformat not style. This is a hard inconsitency. The issue is quite old, but marked as NEW, no work in 18 months, despite major re-design of menus and features. Even MSO has table styles now.
