OOo needs the ability to import/export/save as... in office 2007 and office 2010
formats. Office 2010 is here or just around the corner.
MY SITUATION (like many folk):
wonderful. you have 97/xp/2000/2003 binary formats down.
the 2003 xml format is broken (it's useful for programmers).
I am in a quandry. I am being forced to buy ms office again because I have no
assurance of full compatibility with office 2007 documents. and I (like many
people) am in need of an OS rebuild. I've lost my Office 2003 software. I get
2007 documents all the time.
I figured it won't be long before people will be expecting documents in 2007
format. 2010 is just around the corner, and I could use import/export
compatibility with 2007 and 2010 as well for business purposes. OpenOffice.org
only has 2007 import.
By NOT offering good import/export compatibility with these formats, you are
forcing the business community to go get Microsoft Office, a proven business
solution that works.
many people have to go through rebuilds with their systems. or they have a used
system and have to rebuild because of a virus or spyware. they, like I, want to
keep their Word 2003 (no problem) or Word 2007 (no problem) documents. but
currently the only REAL answer to the problem of compatibility with the outside
world is to get Microsoft Office. MS Office can save Office 2007 word files,
excel files, powerpoint files.
Because OOo doesn't have any of this, I have to spend $459 on microsoft office
2010, because I need to work with documents in 2007 and 2010 format, many of
which come from the microsoft web site as white papers and information documents
for the public on windows 7 or other microsoft software (they wouldn't put it in
a pdf).
please, please, make these format filters available. thank you.
