Confirming. One quote coming after another seems to regard the first one a
letter, thus the second quote always changes to a "closing" quote. Adjusting
summary. Single quotes are not replaced by default. Quote replacement can be
adjusted via "Tools - AutoCorrect options".
Some self-describing examples:
- A „double“ smart quote.
- A ‚single‘ smart quote
- Expected „‚combi‘ nation“ of both
- Current „‘wrong‘ outcome“ when combined
- Current ‚“other“ way‘ round has the same problem
Note that the position, type and angle of the quotes are different in different
languages and styles, but this problem is a general one, regardless what
characters are chosen to replace the quotes.
Workarounds:
- Add a space between them and later delete the space
- Do a Search&Replace with the correct characters throughout the document after
finishing the text
