This issue was detected in several versions of: OpenOffice 3.1, 3.2.x and
3.3RC10 on Windows XP:
When exporting a Writer document to PDF (tagged PDF for accessibility), the
tab order is inconsistent with the structure order.
Here is the process to reproduce the issue:
1. Create a simple ODT document that is longer than a singe page
2. Open Export as PDF... and check at least Tagged PDF (Export bookmarks
does not make a difference).
3. Open the exported PDF in a tool that can check PDF accessibility and get a
full accessibility report. (In Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional, open Advanced
Accessibility Full report. Note that Adobe Reader does not perform a full
check. PAC, the PDF Accessibility Checker by Access for All is also good:
www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-werkstatt/pac-pdf-accessibility-checker.html).
4. The accessibility report in Adobe Acrobat says: Tab order may be
inconsistent with the strucuture order (The corresponding error in PAC would be
an error icon next to Tab follows Tag Structure.)
You can also use the ODT documents at http://adod.idrc.ocad.ca/ as input files;
these should be fully accessible.
This is an accessibility issue for people with disabilities.
Current workaround: after PDF export, opne the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro, repair
the tab order and rerun the full accessibility check; the error is no longer
present.
