As suggested by someone in http://www.oooforum.org/forum/index.phtml it could be a problem with not true unicode fonts, but I'm not sure about that. The point is: to add a symbol from, for example, the "Euclide Math Two" font (from mathematica) only works within the math object where that symbol is defined: the nexts math objects can't remember that symbol.
