[sw-issues] [Issue 46831] Options-Writer-Basic Fo nts(CTL)-Default is not saved

Yes, the logo of the company is something specific, I don't know how do they do this, but MSWord also does not know. This is not the problem and does not bother me. But as you can see in the picture, the hebrew letters are not displayed at all. I don't know how they were substituted by blanks, as at the time I opened the issue I saw them as small empty rectangulars. How did you manage to open the document with text visible? Thanks. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I already realized that you cannot display the characters when Arial is used. But some remarks first: * You're not using 2.0 beta but 1.1.2 - correcting version * You're using a modified version of OOo (modified by your distributor) - it may behave differently than the original * You're using RedHat/Fedora that is known to have few high-quality fonts by default. How did you manage to open the document with text visible? Simple: I have fonts installed that contains hebrew and are common enough so OOo knows them as replacement (glyph-fallback). In fact, I have Arial installed. (Real Arial, not a faked one that claims it is Arial). But as mentioned before: You can use Font-Replacement (and not the baisc-fonts-setting) to use another font than Arial. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The settings for the basic fonts are not meant to override fonts set in the doucments. To override fonts no matter whether they are set explicitly or not, use the Font replacement. When you want to replace fonts that you have installed, make sure to check [x] always. But this wont help for the upper-left box in the attached document since the characters are from the private area of the font. So for the upper-left box to display correctly you need the actual font. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Am I correct? Sorry again. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The option does not override the settings of existing documents that were created by others. So when you recieve a document that is formatted with Arial, it will use Arial, no matter what you did set as basic font. You can however replace a font by another one. So everytime the font is used it is replaced by another one. This is done in the Font-Replacement settings. When you set replace 'Arial' with 'myFont' it will use the font 'myFont' everytime Arial is used. It will not change the font-setting of the document (the document will still be formatted with Arial), but OOo will use a different font to display print the characters. There is no way to display the text in the upper left box in the document, because it is using a special purpose font. It uses characters from the private area of the charset. That means it is unliekly that another font will use the same characters in that private area. It is unlikely that you have that will use the private area at all. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
