With Tools->Options->Language Settings->Writing Aids->Options 'Char Before Line
Break' and 'Char After Line Break' both set to 4, using UK dictionary:

In using the Hyphenation function Tools->Language->Hyphenation, it counts the
full-stops at the end of a word as a character. Screenshot attached for
"progressing." breaking as "progress-ing.".
