To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55117 User tl changed the following: What|Old value |New value Assigned to|tl|khermansen --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 26 23:18:52 -0700 2005 --- If you have a font installed with the character to use you should define the character yourself (similar to the predefined characters like %alpha). For this open the dialog Tools/Catalog press the Edit button and ust the next dialog to define a character named 'therefore' by specifiying the font and character to use. When you have done this you can simply use %therefore in your formulas. If you are content with this just close the issue. If you still think it needs to be added to the font pass this issue on to 'requirements'. Changing the actual OpenSymbol font though is a thing that will and cannot be done so often, not to say it will be done only rather scarcely. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The problem is that the default installation should handle the therefore symbol. You are restricting a large portion of users from continuing to use OO.o Math if this is not enabled by default. I am taking a Discrete Math course right now. Here is a conversation between two students in the class. Student 1: OO.o 2.0 is so cool! Student 2: Yea, I know, it rules dude. You can type anything and it converts to the symbols automagically. Student 1: Wait...why doesn't it convert the therefore symbol? Student 2: I don't know, it should. Student 1: Yeah, it should, but it doesn't look. Student 2: Hrmmm... Student 1: This program sucks. I use therefore in all my proofs. This is not hypothetical. This really occurred. You have to realize that computer programs are supposed to make tasks easier. If someone has to then know how to go out and define their own symbols, you turn away a large portion of your potential users. Please add this symbol to the default install so that it works correctly. I would do it myself, but I am not a developer on OO.o nor have I downloaded the source yet. I could submit a patch later, but will it be accepted for a change like this? You seem to think not, but why? I'm not the only one frustrated by this. I saw a bug in 00.0 1.0 that still has not been fixed... -- Kristian Hermansen - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
