No activity for a while.
@sbegueria: are you still experiencing the problem with current 2.3.1 version ?

Distribution: Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
Package: gnome-utils
Severity: high
Version: GNOME2.8.0 unspecified

Description of the crash:

Open Office crashes, apparently due to dictionary lookup (GDict). It is
the first time that I am using Open Office on this machine.

How often does this happen?

Anytime I use Open Office Writer (not tested with other components of
the suite). The crash happens after one or two minutes, even if I do not
type or do anything. I switched all the writing aids off under Options
/ Language settings, but that didn't help.

Additional Information:

Open Office version is 1.1.5.
Bug Buddy suggested the crash is due to word lookup in an online
dictionary, and indicated that gdict was the component responsible for
the crash. I have no idea on how it works or how I can switch gdict
off.

I am using Red Hat 9 and the system is up-to-date.

The crash happens either using KDE or GNOME.
