There is only a hang on the first time an equation is edited after it is pasted. Afterwards, the equation editor comes up quickly. This issue occurs very reproducibly on my laptop, an Acer Aspire 5670 that has an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor. No other computer I have used has this problem, but no other computer I have used has multiple cores either. Thus, I suspect that there is a threading issue.
