To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77641 User tl changed the following: What|Old value |New value Assigned to|tl|mru --- Additional comments from t...@openoffice.org Fri Jul 24 11:09:17 + 2009 --- Letting the old 2.x OOo versions aside and looking in a current OOo version: The language listbox was supposed to always initially display the language attribute of the text that is currently checked (the one that is marked in the window below). If the language is changed the marked text will get the new language attribute when the dialog is closed or the next sentence gets displayed. Thus everything is as it is supposed to be. What could be improved however is the order of the entries in the listbox. One could imagine to have a quick list similar to the font select box. TL-MRU: please take over. When i write a document in english and try to enable the spellchecker - it marks ewery word as being miss-spelled (I am using the pre-installed english (USA) spelling. When I ask for spelling alternatives - it says that it can not find the word in the libary. If I then change the spelling-language to Danish it stops all spellchecking (also Danish words). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In CWS tl56 OS has solved the above problem and thus switching languages in the spell check dialog should work again. [sw-issues] [Issue 77641] Changing language in Spell check doesn't work
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77641 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 29 18:34:51 + 2008 --- Confirmed on OpenOffice 2.3.0/Linux OS. I found an alternate way of replicating this bug: the following are the steps I took: * Open OpenOffice ( The default language is English(USA) for me). * Click “File” -- “New” -- “Text Document”. * Type (or copy/paste) the following Italian text into the document: “Sto andando al deposito” * If English(USA) is the default language, then the text should be underlined in red indicating spelling errors. * Click on “Tools” -- “Spell Check” * Change “Dictionary language” to “Italian(Italy)” * Click on “Close”. Again, the default language “English(USA)” is restored. Thus ignoring the change of language. For the last step, I did variations by clicking “Add”, “Ignore All” instead of “Close”. All these replicate the bug by restoring the default language to “English(USA)”. Furthermore, a peculiar event occurs when changing “Dictionary language”: the “Suggestions” box becomes empty regardless of whether the word can be corrected or not. For example, the French word, “stylo” is not offered any Italian suggestions when “dictionary language” is changed to “Italian(Italy)”. I found an alternate method of changing to a new language while preserving this new language during spell check. The following steps show how to change the language (at the document level): * Open OpenOffice. * Click “File” -- “New” -- “Text Document”. * Click “Tools” -- “Options”, * From this “Options” dialog box, click on the “Language Settings” heading then “Languages” heading. * Under the “default languages for documents” section, change the “Western” combo box to a new language. This new language will be supported by spell check provided it has the “ABC” check mark icon to its left. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It is also quite unclear how to change the language at the document level. I would expect to find a language setting in Properties.. (document level) in addition to the global level at Settings...(program level) However, seting the language at the Settings... level also doesn't work. In mine the default language is set to English whereas the Spellchecker stubbornly keeps selecting Dutch. I expect it takes its cue from locale settings on my computer in stead of listening to my selections which it should do. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
