worksforme. Use "numeric" as first search-criteria, alphanumeric as second.

The second suggestion (ignoring articles) is more the job of an extension - he
sorting requirements just are too different/special.

Although this issue sounds more like an enhancement I can confirm that issue is
valid in OOo-dev 3.1.0 [(OOO310m7) (build:9393)]. I created and attached
document using examples provided by 'lawfair'.

Quite similar to issue 72491, but not duplicate.

When performing an alphanumeric sort in Office Writer for a list which contains
both numeric and alpha lead characters, there are two mistakes from a librarians
point of view. Numbers should be ordered chronologically:
1
2
3
etc... as opposed to:
1
100
10
11
etc... the latter is how alphanumeric sort works in OOo, but the former would be
preferable.

Additionally for librarian purposes it would be useful if the sort function
ignored both definite articles ("the") and indefinite articles ("a", "an"), as
we tend to ignore those as searchable words except obviously when they are
isolated. The equivalent words in other languages should in general be ignored
in those languages version of the program as well. As an example, "The Dog
Catches the Ball" should precede in a sorted list "Dog Day Nights", which should
precede "A Dog Tale".

Thank You.
