The wasted space really does matter on a laptop screen. When using Writer (O.O.o 3.0.1) in OSX, the use of the optimal view or some custom fitted percentage view to adjust for the waster borders not always a very good solution. The reason for this is that when when scrolling up/down in a document using the two finger scroll on a trackpad, it is very easy to scroll a bit to one side or the other, and thus placing the edge of the text area outside the view area. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. There's quite a difference to be able to actually have a visual of the entire width of the page, margins included to position graphics and text knowing exactly how space is being used. And still, the Optimal view starts off with the same mostly wasted amount of background on top and bottom of the page. Merits and disadvantages of Fit width vs. Optimal views notwithstanding, would this involve a lot of risky coding? I understand if it's a hard UI change to make, then by all means close the issue. I will let it be knowing I did everything I could to ask for an improvement. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
